The mission of the Global Patents Team (GPT) at Google is to remove barriers to innovation. To aid in this effort, the Patents Team leverages a combination of data, models and analytics to anticipate, prevent and defend against intellectual property attacks. In late 2015, GPT embarked on a multi-team effort to align across existing systems and applications to build a unified analytics stack comprised of a robust data warehouse, a sophisticated machine learning layer and BI via Tableau. This talk will share the strategies and tactics used to improve everything from the data quality and reliability to data availability.
In the game of fraud, all (relevant) data must be analyzed. According to the ACFE's Report to the Nations on Occupational Fraud and Abuse: the typical organization loses 5% of revenue in a given year as a result of fraud. Fraud may be big business, but so too is big data as a means to combat incidents of fraud.
Most organizations, regardless of size, will experience some type of fraud during the course of their business. These same organizations likely store many volumes of data that could be leveraged to combat incidents of fraud. In this session, we will explore the fundamental definition of data and its relationship to fraud. We will then explore how data analytics, or in this case fraud analytics, can prevent, deter, and detect incidents of fraud.
When colleges started coming to PayScale's editorial team asking for more information about their alumni outcomes, the HR tech company knew they had an opportunity to create an entire new product line. Naturally, they turned to Tableau, and with a few easy hacks were able to launch a revenue-generating product targeting a new customer base. In this session, learn how PayScale leveraged Tableau Desktop to increase data acquisition and revenue via automated PDF report creation. PayScale's resident data visualization expert will demonstrate:
- How to use Tableau Desktop to automate PDF creation for easy reporting
- How to make analysis more consumable to a large and diverse audience
- How we decreased report creation time by 85 percent
- How we increased the viability and marketability of a new product line with minimal cost
Where are you in your data journey? We often see organizations that have found immediate and significant value in Tableau within departments or business units. Changing the behavior of small groups often comes natural, but sometimes repeating that magic across an entire company is elusive.
In this session, we'll show you how to enable wide-spread adoption of visual analytics, all while still maintaining data governance, transparency, platform scalability and, - most important - without sacrificing the speed and fun inherent to Tableau. We'll discuss the pieces of a successful Tableau Center of Excellence, and show you real-world examples in action. Most importantly, we'll show you how to enable and empower the passionate people in your company.
Within Intuit’s TurboTax walls the mindset is simple, “Winners Keep Score”.
In the extremely competitive tax preparation industry, every minute matters as we make million dollar data-driven decisions each day and leverage Tableau for these actionable insights. It’s imperative that we have shared understanding of customer behavior across the organization to quickly make these decisions.
This session will focus on how TurboTax, the nation’s largest online tax provider, has empowered 600+ associates across their organization to continuously keep score and stay on track to help the company achieve double digit customer growth year in and year out. The use of Tableau has enabled the TurboTax organization to answer their most critical business questions at the speed of thought giving teams the ability to think, act and deliver in real-time.
During this hour we will focus on the lessons learned along the multi-year evolution:
• Evolution from 5 analysts with Tableau Desktop to 600+ associates using Tableau Server across our Consumer Tax Group in 2016
• The importance of getting leadership support and “buy-in” at the most senior levels within the organization, which resulted in constant use by our management teams
• Training methods to successfully on-board 200+ new users each year
• Best practices to ensure consistency in analyst interpretation across the nearly 1,000 Tableau workbooks used
• Standardizing a straightforward user interface to speed up adoption and behavior change across the organization
• Shadows of self-service…while the benefits far outweigh any of the shadows, there are things we have learned along the way that will be helpful for any organization striving for enterprise wide adoption
This informal gathering is a chance for you to connect with other Tableau users in business and consumer services and learn about the value they have seen in key solution areas with Tableau. During the meetup, you’ll have time for general networking and more in-depth table conversations.
United Rentals has 5000+ contractual agreements with its largest and most valuable customers. These agreements are primarily maintained by the sales team of 2000+ sales professionals who utilize Salesforce.com as the primary CRM platform. In addition to SFDC the sales team is also heavily dependent on internal data that is used to analyze and construct contractual agreements with its customers. The process of adequately analyzing agreements, tracking approval flow and finalizing agreements within the ERP system was lacking and inefficient at best. The difficulties in the legacy process led to reduced productivity, less than adequate analysis, and in some cases loss of revenue and ultimately profitably.
As a solution to these issues, we integrated a cloud-based Tableau reporting solution within the Salesforce.com platform, leveraging Tableau's Sparkler framework. This new solution provides increased efficiency and improved analytics leading to better decision making and profitability. In addition, the efficiency of the decision making process and approval flow has improved dramatically leading to increased selling time for the sales teams.
We will cover the following topics during this session:
1) Strategy: selling the efficiency and value that can be delivered via a custom Tableau and SFDC solution
2) Proof of Concept and Capability: live demonstration of the analytics solution containing Tableau dashboards integrated within SFDC platform
3) Technical Architecture: high level discussion on architecture of the solution
4) Delivering the Value: illustration of how the final solution improved decision making, and increased efficiency throughout the organization ultimately leading to value creation for the organization
Tableau is the new face of data and information strategy at AmeriPride – from front end users to a full back-end information stack transformation.
In this session we will touch on the following topics:
• Tableau's ability to highlight data gaps for governance to take action
• Communicating insights through smart visualization design
• Enterprise adoption and Organizational Change
• High Performance data
Furthermore, we will also share how we’ve leveraged Vertica to build dashboards on hundreds of millions of lines of granular data, enabling fully interactive hierarchies so the CEO can use the same report as a field manager.
Tableau users have unprecedented power to self-serve and discover insights. Yet, with great power comes great responsibility. To derive accurate insights, you need to know a lot about your data – its origins, lineage, quality, business applicability and governance. Responsible blending of data requires deep data knowledge.
Join us in this session and learn how GoDaddy implemented an enterprise data catalog to scale their data initiatives, achieving both broader access to governed data and deep data knowledge across their organization. GoDaddy decision makers have trust in data - data consumers are enabled with data knowledge and analysts are guided by smart, data catalog-driven tooling.
Data security is an essential topic nowadays, and most enterprise organizations have sophisticated data security models already in place. There are multiple ways you can achieve row-level security in Tableau, but why reinvent the wheel when you can leverage the existing database security processes?
In this session, you can learn the steps needed to configure Single Sign-On between Tableau and SAP HANA for database driven row-level security. We can accomplish this by using a combination of Kerberos for Tableau Desktop, and SAML for Tableau Server. We will explore SAP HANA and Tableau configuration settings, certificates, identity providers, and custom automated user provisioning processes. We’ll also review use cases for SAP HANA analytic privileges and demonstrate the steps required to connect to and publish secured SSO data sources.
Data democratization is one of the most important concepts in the business intelligence today, and is only beginning to be understood by BI managers. It seems like a simple idea. However, in practice , the democratization of data has been anything but easy to understand and achieve. In this session, you will learn about the process and strategies used to climb a democratic system of data and self-service analytics in the largest insurance company in Brazil.
