Senior Research Scientist, Tableau
Sarah is a research scientist at Tableau. Her primary area of focus is cartography, with an emphasis on cognition. Her work emphasizes how we can help people visualize and use spatial information more effectively. Sarah’s research has covered perception in dynamic map displays, geospatial technologies and spatial thinking abilities, and the impact of map projection on spatial cognition. She has taught university-level courses in GIS and cartography for 10 years, and is a past-president of the Cartography and Geographic Information Society (CaGIS). Sarah is sad when people make ugly and/or misleading maps.
